Just ate eight slices of bacon, and that reminded me of my dad who every Sunday would order both eggs and bacon.

That's not remarkable really. What is was how much of each he ate at one sitting. And no he wasn't fat nor died of a heart attack. He was short and slim not skinny like me!

My grandpa had gobs of bacon, eggs and Vodka for breakfast every morning. He was rail thin all his life, and passed away at 102.

That's not to say that's the secret to long life, far from it. That influenced my life-long disgust with bacon and hard liquor.

Bacon and eggs, however, is the US way of life.

@Northwest I learned people had different tolerancees rather early in life. Especially regarding alcohol.

Mom was definitely a hard cord alcoholic. Didn't even make the same plane as me in our trip to Germany.

Yet I got to meet on that trip a tall slim relation by marriage that actually was nearly twice mom's age and every single day drank both wine and one shot of cognac. She was 98 then. And I was only 14.

Hope that helps in understanding of some.
