Actually, I had that reaction with gin martinis. After hearing about them for years, I found I really, really dislike the taste of gin.
I am fine with vodka though.

@DrWatson My late husband’s favorite drink was Tanqueray. I never cared for it. 🤢

@bijouxbroussard To me, the aroma and taste of gin evoke images of Dickensian squalor! It's hard for me to think of gin martinis as "sophisticated!" 😊

I enjoy a vodka martini.
I wanted to like a gin martini, but just couldn't. Don't know what it is (probably the gin) but just couldn't.

Poetvann · 26-30, F
@SW-User okay but it depends on what you're drinking I hate dry wine and champagne but they make brands that taste just like juice I like barefoot pink sparkling moscato with orange juice and pretty much any of Arbor Mist's wines taste just like juice

@Poetvann they just look better than they taste for me.. lol

Dirty kettle one martinis are my go to .
bijouxbroussard · F
Absinthe. It alway sounded exotic and rather gothic. But in fact it tastes pretty vile.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
Wait...what?
That's not how you make a dry Martini. You need gin, some dry Martini wine and an olive. There shouldn't be any syrup.

@basilfawlty89 I wasn't interested in a regular Martini so I tried flavored martinis both times
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@Poetvann try a dry Martini or a dirty Martini, it might make a difference. The alcohol is strong, but the taste is great.

@SW-User what are polenta chips? I've never heard of them?

SW-User
@Poetvann Italians use polenta and make polenta chips, polenta mash and other side dishes, they're made from corn flour basically, I saw so much about them on various cooking programmes I thought they looked delicious..
They're disgusting I could not swallow one bite
