Do you have a suggestion of what I should marinate my steaks with?

I'm going to cook steaks for dinner, but I can't figure out what the hell I should marinate my steaks with. I have a lot of different herbs and spices and I'll probably use the grill but I'm indecisive.

Orange juice, mixed with a bit of lime juice, cilantro, chili powder, oregano, salt and pepper. That's what I use and it makes for a delicious, tangy flavor!

@Carver haha..I forgot to follow up with this. It turned out good! I think I overcooked the steaks but my lesson is that I need to add more chili powder to the mixture, it wasn't that tangy.

@JarJarBoom There's a certain amount of each you gotta put in there. At least a cup of orange juice and a tablespoon of chili powder and oregano. I probably could have specified that, sorry. But I'm glad it didn't turn out bad, anyway. 😄

@Carver I ate it all, so it was def good. I think I just eyeballed all the ingredients, I like my steak kinda spicy

If I don’t have time to mix something up I’ll use Asian sesame dressing.

I souse vide my steaks . I wash ( rinse) them , dry them with a paper towel , rub in Canadian steak seasoning ( Amazon) and put them in vacuum seal bags . I add a little crushed garlic and Thyme sprig. Then I vaccu seal them and put them in the water . 129 degrees for 1 hour . Then I take them out of the bags and dry them again salt and pepper and sear on the grill for 2 mins a side . If I sear in a skillet I add butter and more crushed garlic . Comes out a perfect medium .

I usually don’t treat the steaks with anything and let the grill do the work. Where I add flavor is in the sauté that I top them with. I’ll sauté red onions and mushrooms in garlic butter and then top the steak with that. If you have any smoked or roasted spices like paprika, you can make a dry rub using those and pepper.

@SW-User I was watching this video from a steak master and he was like "The steak is the fucking star don't add anything to it but pepper and salt" ..and I just rolled my eyes.

Wet, Something soy and citrus based is good.
Even parts Soy sauce and orange juice with a few cloves of minced garlic... something like that.

Dry, I like a good steak house rub.

3 tablespoons kosher salt.
1 tablespoon onion powder.
1 tablespoon garlic powder.
1 tablespoon celery salt.
2 teaspoons paprika.
1 tablespoon black pepper.
1 tablespoon sugar.
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg.

I'm cooking steaks tonight as well. Yummy. I don't have much of a suggestion. I like to just keep mine simple and you steak seasoning, salt and pepper. I heard someone soak and there's an Italian dressing one time. Not sure how that would taste.
JarJarBoom · 41-45, F
@MyPathOfTotality I think italian dressing goes well with chicken but not steaks...I'm probably being a beef snob right now

@JarJarBoom lol nah. I don't mess around too much when it comes to steaks. A good steak stands well on its own. If I'm cooking roast then I'll sometimes cook it in apple juice in a crock pot. I have marinated smaller pieces of roast and dr. Pepper before. Interesting flavor. Lol.
Rosemary leaves, minced garlic, black pepper, soy sauce, olive oil.
