Anyone on keto diet or know about it

Can anyone fill me in on the Keto diet ASAP is it any good etc PLEASE ! Anything you know about it it’s important
I had my gall bladder removed. My surgeon told me in convo that the KETO Diet was his--and other internists---best friend. He said...imagine how hard your organs have to work to digest straight fat? Straight protein? Then he said imagine the logic.......you can best lose weight by eating straight animal fats. Lose fat......by eating fat????

Do people lose weight on that diet? Sure but they lose weight on every diet because all diets limit.......................calories.
@cherokeepatti And in the process it was overburdening their kidneys, liver and gall bladders---to get rid of the excess fat. Just because something has a good short term benefit does not mean it won't or can't do long term damage to something else in your body. In most cases people only need to lose a few pounds or they quit the diet so "long term" isn't done to case a problem.
@cherokeepatti My point was------KETO won't "detox" you. Exactly the opposite.

@anythingoes477 it gets the blood sugar levels down to manageable after you go off it. That’s what I said.

It's better to just do keto partially. Cut out sugar, eat small amounts of healthy carbs like Brown bread and Brown rice. And definately exercise. Weight lifting burns the most calories

Long term Keto will damage the liver. Better to avoid it and manage food another way. My two cents.

@ravenwind43 Overeating protein is what damages your liver. Following Keto macros teaches you not to do that.

It’s good short term to lose weight or get your blood sugar levels lowered but long term is not so good, need to reintroduce healthy carbs into the diet gradually.

@AnarchoMetalchic I know but not that much. I need more resistant starches than what the keto diet offers. Keto slows my digestion down way too much.

Kept diets work but watch your fat intake. High cholesterol is bad for your heart and kidneys. Cut out sugar and a lot of your carbs
