Do you like to make/eat soups?

If so, what kind?

Honestly I find them quite nice in how they require very little technical work to make and turn out so good for so little work. My grandma caught some kind of illness so I decided to make her some homemade chicken noodle soup. Turned out mighty tasty, she loved it. Love me some homemade chicken noodle. 😌

Yes. I could do soup every day.

My own easy trick is to always keep an assortment of canned tomato, potato, onion, rice or other simple soup in the pantry, and use them as a base for heavier vegetable soups.

When ready, I steam or boil whatever fresh veggies are handy and add them to the pot with the canned soup, along with whatever spices sound appealing for the day. Sweet curry works great. To stretch it even further, add noodles.

@UndeadPrivateer Yes, it's also a good way to keep veggies like celery, parsley, potatoes, squash, carrots, cabbage, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, etc. moving through the kitchen if you don't have a big family.

@Heartlander Very true. I cook for four so not as big an issue for me but when just cooking for one or two I could see it being a little more tricky.

@UndeadPrivateer Yes, with just two, outlasting a celery or cilantro bunch can be a challenge :)

A really good chicken soup from scratch is one of the great pleasures in life.

Honestly, name a soup and I'e probably made it. Any time I cook meat I save the bones and meat scraps for making stock.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@CountScrofula Haha, I'm the same way. I have considered on multiple occasions making broth and bottling it but that'd take up an inordinate amount of fridge space. So I just keep the bones/carcasses in the freeze.
@CountScrofula I forgot you were a great cook 👨🏽‍🍳

@Stark Yep! Cooking is love. Or it's hell if you don't like it, lol.

I have a pressure cooker and I love to make soups in them. Mostly chicken soups as I don't eat beef or pork, love hot and sour soup, Chicken Tortilla soup, Chicken and rice, chicken and dumpling soup.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@SW-User Yeah, I'm currently not eating pork or red meat either. Big fan of all those choices. :D

@wildrosez Thank you. She's a sweetheart, least I can do is make her some good soup.

All of those are wonderful choices. I still haven't made borscht before though, gotta do that some time.

@wildrosez Indeed they are, I make braised beets all the time. Quite the tasty vegetable.

Aw that’s a beautiful soup. You’re so sweet for taking care of her 🤗

I make a decent veggie soup and an amazing chicken stock.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@DancingStarGoddess Soupa noms. 😁

I just made some homemade chicken noodle soup, took me most of the day and it was good!😋
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@Peaches 🙀 Oh noooooo.
Peaches · F
@UndeadPrivateer Hahaha, I really meant to add some! I use the "elephant garlic" because it's easier to peel. Ya know all you have to do is pop it in the microwave a few seconds and the skin comes right off.😊
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@Peaches Mighty handy. I myself don't mind having to fiddle with it a bit to peel 'em. I'm a bit of a garlic fiend, hehe.
Gangstress · 41-45, F
I've just woke up. And I'd so eat this right now. Hope your grandma gets better soon buddy
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@Gangstress Thank you kindly. 🤗
Gangstress · 41-45, F
@UndeadPrivateer it's really sweet you did that for her too 💕
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@Gangstress She's a sweetheart, certainly deserves it.

I want sum!That's so nice of you to do that for her😁
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@SW-User She's a lovely lady. Deserves a good bowl of soup for being so kind. 😌
Those noodles are big.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@Spoiledbrat They really are. X_X They were the only egg noodles I could find, though. It's not like noodles are hard to cut with a spoon anyhow, so it made little difference really. 🤷
I’m kidding. It looks really good. @UndeadPrivateer
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@Spoiledbrat They genuinely are huge noodles though. lol. They're like a foot long. I was quite satisfied with the end result though.
Omg I like that kind of pasta 😌
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@Stark They were honestly the only egg noodles I could find. XD They worked mighty well though, I was a little concerned they'd be hard to manage because they're so long, but easily fixed by just cutting them up with your spoon.
GLITTER · 36-40, F
I'm thinking breakfast soup 😀
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@GLITTER Cereal? 🤔

@Swann Mmmm, beef stew is the good stuff. Currently not eating beef or pork so none for me right now but have made it many times in the past. A family favorite is also ham and barley soup.
