Do you prepare or mix food a certain way you thought normal but people disapprove?

I toast my bread at minimum just to get it crunchy but my entire family disapproves and think I should either toast it until near-burnt or not toast it at all.

You can toast your toast to whichever degree you wish, as long as it tastes good to you. perhaps they just don't like you standing in the way of them doing stuff in the kitchen while you wait for "toast perfection".
