Need help with spending money

When I am depressed I spend money. It’s a bad cycle. About $20,000 in debt and I would really like to get a handle on this before it gets more out of control. I have a good job an able to pay my bills just don’t know how to put money aside or pay more then the minimum payment on my cards. Any extra money I have after bills I spend. Please help. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Create a budget, give yourself a set amount for your depression spending which still allows you to pay your bills and set money aside.

Stick to your budget.

If you haven’t started doing this you might consider it: you say you get good pay. That’s great. So if you’re not doing it now ; put if you can, 10%of your pay into an account. Try and leave it alone. Something to be mindful of too, is your job. Will you always have it?
Credit cards: try and pay more than the minimum.
Look for people/ agencies who might be able to aid you and get you squared away before things do get out of control.
And last, you’re not alone with these concerns as there are many others out there facing the same dilemma. Good luck!
