I Got My Bank Statement In The Mail & It Had A Notice Of Banking Fees…ATM Card Use Will Now Be Charged A Fee Based On Amount Spent Or Withdrawn

From the bank. I think I’ll just take out cash at the teller window or write checks for purchases after it goes into effect on August 15. Probably won’t be doing much online ordering any longer. This is on top of inflation and increases the cost of living to use it. I assumed this applied to all use but it’s only for use in other countries when someone is traveling and using their ATM card there.

Wow! And then you got to wonder why they want to eliminate cash.
I remember when we were all shut down (banks included) that they started issuing payments for unemployment in debit cards. The bank would charge you a good sized fee if you took that money out of an atm that wasn't the bank where the card came from.
Alot of the cards were compromised by hackers and getting through to anybody, well you were pretty much screwed.

@Adrift I talked to a clerk at the bank and he said it only involved international withdrawals if you are traveling. Relieved about that.

previous bank started adding fees like that, so I switched banks

apparently everyone else did too as they went out of business about 6 months later...

@wildbill83 the bank clerk said it was for using the card in other countries. Not planning on traveling any time soon.

Wow, that's terrible! It's free in the UK to take cash out the ATM at bank/building society. Also ones at supermarket etc. A few ATMs in shopping malls charge but there's a warning notice.

I use capitol one and checks for just about everything

Most banks
Charge a fee for paper checks
And inside bank teller use

Basically
You can't win

Go to those rare establishments
Where they don't charge ATM Fees

Like 7-11 or such

That they do to promote better sales

@TheDisciplinarian I got free checking because of my age, Senior account and they send me free checks when I need them too so that saves me money. I cashed in some coins today and asked the clerk about this and he said it only applies to other countries, not in the USA, so that was a relief.

@Barny52 it applies to withdrawals in other countries. I assumed it was here, asked the clerk at the bank.
