They are no longer going to mint pennies.

However, it will take decades for them to become obsolete.
What is your opinion on the demise of the penny?

In our country, coins are still common. Even though they tear the pockets, can’t be kept in wallets and pile up on desks and dashboards.

The values have changed from fractions a rupee to 10 Rs now!

That’s how change changes, I guess 😊

I'm in favor. They sound stop nickels too, for the same reason.

@RosaMarie Nickels, too?
😳

@ProfessorPlum77 more money lost each nickel than each penny

@RosaMarie Really?

It’s fine with me. I never actually pay for anything using them. I just get them back and they go in a can until I go to the bank.
End of an era. Too bad 😔

Start saving your pennies they are not making them anymore.
Once the supply has been depleted and melted back into other things watch the price of your saved pennies rise.

But seriously if we are going to reduce debt it makes sense to cease producing the penny that costs more to produce than it is worth.

@JackOatMon I like your point about how much we will be saving.
