I’m getting a new credit card

My first credit card is a Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards Visa Signature. Last year I also got myself a Discover It Cash Back Rewards Credit Card. I just signed up for a Wells Fargo Active Cash Visa Card. I understand that Wells Fargo as a company doesn’t have the greatest reputation, but the card offers unlimited 2% cash back on all purchases and you get a $200 bonus if you spend $1,000 in the first 3 months, which is definitely doable for me. I also wanted to get another card because my 0% APR on my Discover card expires in July, and this new card will give me another 15 months of 0% APR.

So right now through the end of June my Discover gives me 5% cash back on gas (and Target purchases) up to $75 and 1% unlimited cash back on everything else. It’s my main card that I use for almost everything. When not in the gas season on my Discover card I use my BoA visa for gas as it lets me select to get 3% cash back on gas year round. I recently changed the category to online purchases but after June I will change it back. Now with this new card I’ll be getting unlimited 2% cash back on every purchase. So I’ll probably be using this new card for everyday purchases, and in the first 3 months gas as well to make sure I spend $1,000 and get that bonus (shouldn’t be hard with gas prices being $6 a gallon lol 💀). So I’ll be getting less cash back on gas technically (2% instead of 5%) but it’ll be worth it to get that $200 sign up bonus.

Isn’t managing money fun? Lolol

I am just shaking my head. You sound like me. I survived the pandemic with my charge cards, and things got out of control. Now I am at the point where I barely make enough money to give them their payments each month.

Just be REALLY careful. Don't charge more than you can repay in full every month.

@nedkelly Did not know that! Wonder how you apply for that?
nedkelly · 61-69, M
@4meAndyou You can apply directly with the bank, or go through a financial counsellor as they are free.
I did one last year and she owed $16,000 I put forward my offer and they came back with a counter of $8,000 over 4 years with no interest or charges and waive the other $8,000

@4meAndyou I hear you, I’ve always been pretty good about paying my cards in full actually. I don’t spend more than I have in my bank (and worse case scenario my mom would let me borrow money to pay it and avoid accruing debt lol, not that I’d let it come to that)

Also check their websites for different promotions every month/ week. Some items will have double rewards if you choose to participate

Think of this, if it was the mid 1970s or prior time in history, you would only be allowed to get a credit card if your husband signed for it, if allowed at all. Solely based on the fact that you are Female.

@BackyardShaman fucking wack bro
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
That’s the way things were@Zeuro
Just make sure to not carry a balance!

This is just a lot of uncontrolled spending, not managing money.
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@MarkPaul if that’s not the point then what the fuck is?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Zeuro It's pretty obvious to even those who are not professionally trained you will literally post anything to get attention. It's all about the views for you, so literally nothing you say can be taken at face value. I suspect most of what you post isn't even true. Certainly, you are free to carry on in that way. It's just not any way to gain any credibility. But, apparently, that isn't a concern to you.
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@MarkPaul yes, you got me, I totally lied about opening a credit card for attention 🙄
MonaReeves86 · 36-40, F
How are you not in debt ?
Zeuro · 26-30, F
@MonaReeves86 I NEVER accrue credit card debt, I only spend what I can pay off in full. My current credit score is 793
