For a single person, is it better to own, or rent?

It is better to own. My father who has a serious case of C.A.S (cheap ass asian syndrome) instilled that in me. Why pay someone else's mortgage/bills when you can pay your own? In the beginning when my parents first got married they were broke ASF b/c it isn't like Uncle Sam was paying my mother much. Now they have a home in Korea where they met and married and an apartment in Russia where my father was born and holds citizenship. I, with help from my parents, own my apartment in Korea. They also helped my sister to buy her own apartment. That way if a relationship fails like my son's mother who nearly stabbed me to death she can kick the person out and still be stable and okay. It's always better to own your own place.
