Would you say each of these sci fi universes are recognizable from eachother?

Or do they just sort of blend together into generic science fiction?

though, Star Wars having its lightsabers is sort of a dead giveaway.

Even starwars is a rehash of other popular movies and sci-fi books.

Good verses evil IS a rehash of everything. And it's being popularized everytime most movies come out no matter the genre.

Actually there's a reason. It's about control over what you watch. Forcing bipolar approach (religion). Making the "good verses evil" even more popular.

Reality doesn't make good science fiction (heard this by Heinlein himself long before starwars). That's why "good verses evil" is so popular in science fiction.

Try to make a science fiction movie about various life styles, none presented as good or evil, and the watchers will just get lost and not identify with any side. So the movie fails.

Now consider this. Why hasn't a movie about good verses good been made? 馃ぃ

@DeWayfarer true, I think you're right. Hardly anything is original but I think the way you tell a similar story can help determine whether or not it's successful.

In it's day, I'm sure A New Hope was a cinematic marvel with all the practical effects used.

I think think a story about good vs good is impossible. Because I think most people in their own mind believe they are good, even though they clash with one another

@caPnAhab oh it's possible. Good verses good isn't popular. For the vary same reasons why multiple life styles are not popular.

People lose interest when they can't identify with one group or other.

Heinlein wrote many unpopular books. Time enough for love being one of many.

Another was simply called "Friday"

Time enough for love is actually banned in certain countries. Because it deals with incest.

@DeWayfarer woah please excuse my typos.

I meant *not* Impossible.
Woaaaah hold on now nate you can put the last two together but not the holy trinity

@TryingtoLava I'm saying they don't blend together, as they are each distinct (to me)

Im just as much a massive Halo fan as I am Star Wars 馃榿
(I LIKE Mass Effect. Not a total fanboy but I like it a lot!)

But I ask the question because anyone who's not savvy with this stuff might see it all as the same thing.

And also, these posters are pretty cool. So I wanted to include them in a post

@Lisaandchestnut yeah, it looks like the designers went with similar compositions. Must be a coincidence... I figure
LostpoetM
To me it blends together
caPnAhab26-30, M
@Lostpoet no worries. I expected them to appear interchangeably to some people, especially if they weren't familiar
LostpoetM
@caPnAhab I'm just not much of a syfy person.

I love mass effect
caPnAhab26-30, M
@pride49 yeah, mass effect is awesome

@caPnAhab I wish it didn't end. And I would like to see dramatic landscape effects from terraforming in Andromeda. Would have been cool
