Is there a stigma around hawaiian shirts that I'm not aware of?

My parents had a Hawaiian themed wedding in 1963 and then a Hawaiian themed 50th anniversary in 2011. Everyone gave me their Hawaiian shirts they bought for the 1 time use. My parents passed away not long after. During the summer i wear those shirts and it feels like my parents are still with me somehow. But I've noticed sometimes i get dirty looks for no apparent reason.

I can assure you--this is coming from a boulevardier--that the Hawaiian shirt is the sine plus ultra for casual summer wear. I myself have curated a fine collection built up through the years.
reserved for the 'large' size guys.. innit?.

I think they are associated with loud and obnoxious people kind of like Uncle Buck characters so maybe there's a bit of judgement from some people? Who knows really. I think you should just wear whatever makes you happy and if you come up against one of the Karen's who's got a problem with the shirts, smile and be extra nice. That will really piss them off 😂

Boogaloo boys (civil war aficionados) it's a meme of far right revolution. Gypsy Crusader wears one as a costume for some of his videos. Pretty dank stuff for those in the know.
