Do fashion shows have any relevance ?

I get it's a form of self expression and creativity, but fashion annoys me simply because there's so much emphasis on how we look because of the money people spend on name brands.

I think about this all the time. Who is wearing these outfits? I have never see an average joe on the street wear anything that I've seen on a fashion show.
