No because I could not lie to a child about their Christmas wishes, I would only do it if I had the means to grant every one of their wishes. So, no.

@WillaKissing
Nobody can "grant" anyone else their wishes. Everything that comes to us is self-manifested from within, not from someone else or someplace external to us.
Therefore, your job as Santa's elf in answer to children's letters to Santa, is to support their dream and their inner belief that they can have anything they wish for, simply because it's true!
It's true because it is a Law of the Universe to receive that which we ask for, be it good or bad ...and we WILL receive it if we ask for it.
By a child writing what they wish for in a letter to Santa is a way for a child to manifest what they desire by putting it down on paper and sending it off in the mail to Santa.
YOUR job is simply to acknowledge that their letter has been received at the North Pole and is being tended to. That's all you have to do.

@swirlie No it is not, and I seriously disagree with you!
I have seen children write that they want Santa to bring back a dead loved one usually a parent or older sibling that I watched die as a soldier on a battlefield.
Like I said, I can't and I won't lie to a child building a false hope and then letting them down on Christmas Day! I am not God not a multi-Billionaire, I also do not believe in lying to children or building false hopes in them that their own parents can't fulfill for them.
Sorry, I say I disagree with you and will not and cannot do this!

You are not lying to children because you do not tell them that their wish WILL BE fulfilled.
Your job is only to acknowledge receipt of their letter at the North Pole.

@swirlie Nope, like I said I cannot do it. When I say no, or no thank you I cannot. I mean what I say and say what I mean.
Thanks

Then why did you fight on a battle field for your country? That was all a lie too because you were lied to by your government. Where do you draw the line in the sand that separates one lie from another?

@swirlie Look you have your career (I hope) and you do what the CEO or leaders of your company want you to do. I chose the US Army as a profession, and I performed my duties as I was directed to do. I voted every four years as a citizen of the United States and that is all I could do about the folks that got elected and chose to send me to do our nations bidding.
Soldiers do not write policy and once you become a soldier you have to follow the orders of those above you like them or not. In my 27 years in the US Army, I followed orders as not to be imprisoned or to face a court martial for treason or failing to follow my orders.
Soldiers follow orders and directives given them by their superiors/political leaders.
If you think your political leaders have wronged you, run for a political office yourself then you can be part of and change the system that you complained about.

But why did you join the US Army in the first place? What was your motivation for choosing that line of work as a profession?

@swirlie Why have you chosen the work and field that you do today? The answer will be the same as mine. I chose it, loved it, and made it my career.
YOU? Why have you chosen what you do? Well? Probably the same answer, right?

No, not at all. I chose my own career path because I do things that make money while having fun doing it.
Why do you think the US Army was recruiting soldiers when you decided to Enlist?

@swirlie OMG, every nation has to maintain a standing military presence right!
And how do you do that especially in a nation like the United States of America where there is no mandatory military draft? By having recruiters and recruiting stations that's how.
I had tons of wrestling scholarships for colleges laying on the table when I graduated high school. I did not want to go to college right away, I wanted to join the Army, and I did so on my own choosing. I served my first three-year enlistment and re-enlisted because I loved it. Plain and simple it was what I wanted to do. I even have my college completed and paid for while I was in the Army as well.
So, again you chose your path in life like I chose mine. No one forced or coerced me as I am sure no one forced of coerced you to pick your path, right?

Correct! That is what nations do when nations perceive there is a threat looming from other nations, which is why those other nations have a military presence as well, because they too perceive a threat looming from other nations who amass large armies. That is were perception can lead to misguided action in all aspect of life.
Okay, so you joined the Army as a profession and you loved it. But why did you end up on a battle field as you described your experience a few posts back?

@swirlie Because I was ordered to go and it was my damn job!
And again, like I said a few posts ago as well run for political office yourself to change that in the future.

You joined the Army because you knew you would ultimately be deployed to fight a war that was based on a lie, because you obviously didn't think the US Army was some kind of country club where guys go to hang out and get their college paid for by the taxpayer.
That was the essence of my original comment to you. You would NOT have joined the Army if you thought those wars your country constantly immerses itself into were lies. If you thought they were lies, you would never have joined the US Army.
The only reason you become a soldier in the US Army was because you believed what your government told you about the USA having to defend itself against a never ending perceived threat, despite the US never actually being attacked by foreign adversaries who showed up en mass with tanks and thousands of soldiers. That never happened even once in the USA.
You believed the threat was real because you believed the lie that your government told you was fact, when in fact those perceived threats were lies.
