We didn't do Santa when I was a kid. But as an adult my favorite gift was a picture my son drew and colored for me. He was 4.

@Ticklish34 My adoptive parents tried, but PTSD made me uncomfortable with gifts, even to this day. I got to see how it was all done with my kids, and I had fun with it when they were younger.

@Ticklish34 My husband told me all of his memories of it and I wanted my kids to have that too. I followed his lead

Here comes the emotional roller-coaster!!!!
My favorite Christmas gift was from my mom & grandma.
It was an SNES.
It was our last Christmas together.
I wish I could remember those days better, because that Christmas always confused me. We left early in the morning, and I'm not sure where my dad was that day (I do believe he dropped us off).
But that's one of my all-time favorite days to remember.
I got to play my SNES all day, eat delicious Christmas bon-bons (Pizza cheese-strings, those sugar-coated gummy fruit shapes, those Icee Squares, Marshmallow Santas, Terry's Chocolate Oranges... I can't even remember what we had for dinner). We listened to Sunshine on Leith on repeat all day.
I miss being in the room with them. Listening to their chatter.
That was the Christmas before my gram had her pacemaker installed.
The last Christmas where she drank. She was soon diagnosed with diabetes.
Until today, I didn't realise how many points of my life converged on that Christmas.
I think I'm only realising now, the trauma her passing caused me in highschool. I cried for months. I wished it was me, instead of her.
But yes... Christmas.
My mom and grandma made my first 12 Christmases magical. It was never the same after mom left. She always went that extra mile.

Probably when I got a hamster 🐹
A sparky tractor.
When I was six.
We lived on a dairy farm and the farm owner drove a big old Ford tractor and it used to backfire and spark and flames would spit out of the exhaust stack on the hood.
I asked all summer for one. I didn’t even know if they existed but I wanted one.
On Christmas morning I got one ☺️
It was exactly like the farmers tractor and I could wind it up and it would roll across the floor spitting sparks and little puffs of smoke from its little smoke stack 💨 😊
