There is a good reason why people should duck or bend when approaching a helicopter with a running engine.
"Ducking” is probably more useful in that it moves your face and center of gravity lower, so you are less likely to catch downdraft debris and rotor wash…which could blow you over in a high power setting or put debris into your face.
