Little girls are tough!
I just came back from watching a softball tournament where a couple of girls I coach are pitching against each other. It's 106 for the ambient temperature in the shade, and on the field its 115. The umpire was about to melt and took frequent breaks to put a new ice towel around his neck and get something to drink and made sure the girls got something too.
Both teams were hard core. It was 5-5 going into the 7th (the last inning for girls) and they were killing it. Making plays, sacrificing their bodies, sliding , and playing as hard as they possibly could. In the end a sweaty hand caused an errant throw and lost the game for one team, but its amazing how hard core 14U girls play. I remember playing in a lot of long hot tournaments and not being able to move for a couple days after because I was so sore and dehydrated. I dont know what makes them do it, but it was an honor to watch them work together as teams and play at such a high level.
