Gotta love a core memory

I'm in the car with my 18 year old son and Wrecking Ball comes on the radio. He chuckles and shares a "core memory" of this song. He was 9 or 10 and at a sleepover at his friend's house. At some point, the friends watch the video for Wrecking Ball - the friend being explicitly forbidden by his mother to do so. The friend later got punished for it.

I was like - wait. He got punished for watching a music video? Wait. What?

We pull up the video. Miley's riding a wrecking ball, at times naked, at times in a tank top and undies. At no point do we see any reproductive bits of course, but it's provocative. Sure.

I wasn't there and I don't know what discussions she had with her son when punishing him. But did this woman think she was protecting her son from online porn? If you ask me, punishing a young boy for looking at a woman's body is a good way to create a life-long pervert.

What do you think?

Punishment is merited for disobedience . . but Miley was not worth picking a fight over. They could be pushed into viewing far worse material.

I think I may have given a small lecture about female objectification . . then joined the boys in mutual admiration 😅

Sorry Sunshine, you can't have it both ways! Life doesn't work that way.

@swirlie Lord make me pure, but not yet.

I learned a very long time ago to not ask the good Lord for purity until I was absolutely sure that I was on my way out and he was taking me home...
