Someone please explain how Hanah is strong? Or how Rylee is tall?

The other day my daughter Hanah was helping me get groceries out of the car, she comes out and flexes her arms telling me how strong she is. I watch her as she proceeds to reach into the car and grab the gallon of milk, from the minute she picked it up she struggled pretty significantly to carry it into the house. And she struggled even more putting it up on the table. I would have done it but she wanted to do it , so I let her. She was so proud after that. But if we’re being honest, a little gallon of milk isn’t heavy.

Today my daughter Rylee wanted to help us set the table. Rylee showed us that she wasn’t even strong enough to bring the plates over to the table, and when we gave her some silverware to put on the table, she wasn’t tall enough to even put them on the table. Yet here Rylee is claiming that she is really tall and did a really good job.

In your opinion, is Hannah strong? Is Rylee tall? How so? A little jug of milk is not heavy in the slightest and it’s not very hard to bring plates to the table.

You celebrate your children where they are. You celebrate their seemingly small accomplishments. A child is an individual and should be encouraged, not compared.

I don't think any of your questions are ready relevant... What's important is that wanted to help and they tried... Keep encouraging them... It leads to a stronger person emotionally 🤗
They are strong because even though it wasn't easy they still did it .
Strength is not things being easy ..it is persevering despite the difficulty.

Please don’t judge them, instead as you’ve already done celebrate their achievements and ambition!!

Encourage them. If they feel strong and tall, good for them. What's wrong with a bit of confidence? If you think they need to be stronger, help them get there gently and criticism. Only time and growth changes tall.

@daydeeo I watched Hanah and she had to keep setting the milk down while she was bringing it in, and she had both of her hands wrapped around the curtain looking like she was straining to do so. And she wasn’t strong enough to lift it up to the counter so I had to do that for her. So how exactly is Hanah strong. A gallon of milk isn’t heavy at all
daydeeo · 61-69, M
@Askawaytoday a gallon of milk weighs about 9 lbs. What dies Hanah weigh? 40 lbs? What if you carried 1/4 of your body weight from the car to the house? Would you consider yourself strong? Even if you had to set it down a couple of times? It's all relative, proportional.
Askawaytoday · 41-45, F
@daydeeo hanah is about 50–60 pounds. Are you sure we’re talking about the same thing? A gallon of milk after me looking it up is only 8 pounds. That is not even remotely close to being heavy.
They both have strong commitments 🙂 and that's priceless

What kind of bs is this 🙄

My opinion is bless them for their heart and spirit to be helpful to you. For when they hit 12 years of age and up that helpfulness will disappear as you become the old no nothing ogre in their way.

Are you asking us to judge your children? 🫤

Perhaps you’re just venting?

This post makes no sense. But, even if someone was going to judge, you never mention the ages of the children…
Askawaytoday · 41-45, F
@Adogslife sorry. Both of my kids are lower elementary age.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Don't judge them by your standards. If you must judge them at all, which I don't recommend, then, if you must, judge them by others of their individual age groups.
fun4us2b · M
depends how old, are they 6 or 16?
Askawaytoday · 41-45, F
@fun4us2b both of them are lower elementary. In your opinion do you think Hanah is strong?
daydeeo · 61-69, M
@Askawaytoday Yes. A gallon of milk weighs about 9 lbs.
Askawaytoday · 41-45, F
@daydeeo that’s my point exactly though. A gallon of milk isn’t even really close to heavy. Hanah wasn’t strong enough to lift it up to the counter, and before that When she was bringing it in the house she had both of her hands wrapped around the container and she Look like she was putting in all of her body weight as well. She also had to keep setting it on the ground and picking it back up. Would you say that she is strong when 9 pounds isn’t heavy.
A little parental encouragement goes a long way.
