I'm not a mom but......

when it comes to children safety I take that matter seriously but next time if I am in the presence of a family members child alone when the mom and other relative of the child are there but are behind closed doors working or doing their own thing where it is just me and the kid....I am going back into the relatives room or leaving their place doing my own thing because I feel uncomfortable around him. If the child got hurt and if I was present I don't want no fingers pointed at me and there is no proof. Especially when I spoke to the child and his relatives about the kids safety/environmental awareness where I had to keep repeating to the child about the objects I am using and to keep a distance since he is very hyperactive (objects: adult scissors, box cutters for arts and craft, knife to cut vegetables) . Cause if the child has to be taken to the hospital for a serious injury and they start asking questions/ investigating. Oh boy
