Why do some relatives think its bad to know your ancestors?😒

I get leave it alone whenever I press for information about my ancestors. Like it's a bad thing.

I've been working on family history for 30 years, and most family members have been interested and supportive. Those who have not cooperated seem to be unwilling to know that some of our ancestors weren't very good people.
