Why do some relatives think its bad to know your ancestors?😒

I've been working on family history for 30 years, and most family members have been interested and supportive. Those who have not cooperated seem to be unwilling to know that some of our ancestors weren't very good people.

My family doesn't think it's bad, but we know enough and leave it at that.

Me too, some of them in my family did some bad things.

Are they from an older generation where society placed a lot of shame upon people?

Maybe they were thugs or something.. 😒
