We all spat it out after. Otherwise i got the belt which i think some kids don't get these days.

I have many times had my mouth washed out with soap
But my Mom cussed worse then a sailor ,she didn't think I might use the same words
but I never treated my kids how I was treated ,I used the switch but lead by example ,,,Damn was a major word in my house
5 whacks only on the rear ,through jeans normally gets their attention
It does not kill them but it does teach respect ,and to at least not get caught
My kids all tell me it was not so much the switch that got them in line ,,it was knowing they let me down and disappointed me
that hurt them the most
But I bet they thought about the switch when they had to make choices
But I started my kids young
My son is 11 and has not been really punished in 2 years
He is good at self policing himself
I am always complimented on his manners and willingness to help
and he was recently called out of class so a sheriff could shake the hand of the boy who stopped bullies on his bus
When his last principle drives 60 miles to take him out to lunch and give him a copy of the year book he bough so he can see his old class mates

I never got it and did jalapeno sauce in their mouths for any little slight. We have rules regarding kids and talking and breaking them means they need fresh jalapeno juice. Depending on what was broke it might just be put under their tongue or on their gums where it really burns and then they're not allowed to rinse not that water does much but actually makes it worse. Got the idea from a friend who used it when her boys would curse.

My dad passed away 2 month ago.... He was one and only one whose love has no limit for his daughters and son! I miss him! He is my hero! I am lucky to have such parents and siblings!

With my kids I can just say "Ok, no devices, no computers, gamins systems, etc for the rest of the night".

I tried to avoid it when I was growing up. My mom used a liquid soap that changed how everything tasted for a day or two after! So far my kids have never needed that more than once.

Yes I have, and it's just yuck. The soap was always left to soak and get really lathered up. I was made to suck on the bar after my teeth and tongue were scrubbed in soap.

yay I think it was popular punishment for talking back or cussing until my generation not saying it doesn't still happen but I think much less now

Yes as well as spanked with a wooden paddle. Taught me well growing up. Can't do that today, they'll consider it abuse but that helps

No. Most soap is toxic, not meant to be consumed. I’m lucky my parents realized that.
