There are articles about Gordon Bennett and his behaviors. He was engaged to a wealthy socialite. The woman's father hosted a party for them and Gordon Bennett was so drunk he mistook the fireplace for a toilet and urinated in it in front of everyone at the party. The brother of Gordon Bennett was reported to have horse-whipped him the next morning, and the engagement was broken off.

Meowsolini: He had inherited wealth and was a journalist, there are many stories about him, but that one takes the cake...the fact that he was horse-whipped the next morning is something else...I guess the family was so embarrassed by what he did that they wanted to make sure he'd never come around there again.

Not my parents, but I did exclaim "holy guacamole" at Walmart one time, and made my niece laugh.
