How important do you feel male figures are in parenting?

HeyITHAPPENS · 31-35, M
Having grown up without a father I’ll just say this. I am SO glad I am a man. Holy be-jeezus you ladies do so much, have so many responsibilities from school to dinner to the damn clothes the kiddos wear everyday. It’s so damn easy doing the “typical” guy standard of going to work, making money, going home to a fresh meal and well. Basically just going to bed. So glad I’m a man. Much respect for all women.

They aren't. There's not ideal parent setup - single parents or gay parents can absolutely raise happy healthy children while a nuclear family may have miserable traumatized children. What's most important is just being a good parent, the rest is window dressing.

@CaptainCanadia Yeah you're right, thank you for that response.

Very
But many single mothers do a great job

you mean a father? seems odd not to just say that but okay lol.. they are very important and I hate it so much that people don't give them credit more and that mothers seem to try and make it all about themselves these days.. like on fathers day, so many always try to either want fathers day to be cancelled or they make it about them

My female cousin is married to woman. She is pregnant with a boy. I don't know where he will get male role models....as the father is not in the picture. I just want what is best for her, but I think it will create confusion. Maybe her dad will be the major influence here.

@MissMollyCharlotte0702 Hence why I'd said "male figure" PlumBerries failed at the interpretation, though. Personally, I do feel they're important.. I do believe it gives children a complex otherwise... and yes, things do get confused.

Very. Especially in raising sons.

very, just as much as female figures

I have seen in many cases, if father dies in family then mother raise her children very nicely but if mother dies in family then children arent raised properly in most of the cases. Just my opinion but both are important. But if mother dies then you are orphan for real.

i cannot speak i grew up with both, but i was closer to my mom...i dont know if it wouldve made a difference if my dad was in the picture or not.. maybe wouldve been a little different but not hugely different.

I can't articulate it but it's very important to have strong male figures present when raising a child.
