A proud immigrant

A proud immigrant and legal United States citizen since the age of 11. My parents decided to immigrate to the United States from Germany bringing my sister and I was 8 when this happened and went through the process. They wanted a better life including for my sister and I going through the process. Met new people and friends adjusting to life. We lived on the West Germany side at the time and life was rough going through a lot. Happiest part was when we became United States citizens taking the oath. I am glad to have a better life thanks to them including my sister

my parents emigrated to canada in 1967 from germany. they actually applied to come to the states first but that process took too long so they came here....i woulda been born in philly and probably grow up to be an obnoxious eagles fan 🤣

My father immigrated to the US when he was 20 years old in 1957 from Germany, he survived WW2 in Eastern Germany along the Baltic Sea.

I think I was 7 years old, but I remember when he passed the citizenship test, they gave back then and swore in to become a US citizen. I never remember him ever being so happy, proud, excited, or drunk celebrating that day with his older sister who had married a US Army Soldier and came to the US with their younger brother right after WW2 ended.

@jshm2 Germany was divided until 1987, East and West Germany. It was a month after we immigrated the wall was torn down with Ronald Reagan said tear down that wall
