How progressive gay lefties spend their summer holidays

We're at a womens literary and arts festival. Based at a Tudor manor house in mid Wales, there are five days of music, dance and arty things to look forward to. We've been coming here on and off for the best part of twenty years. We first brought our daughter along two years ago and she loved all the attention she got from our old friends and that there are loads of kids her own age.

Not much sleep in the tent last night owing to a very over-excited teenager. This morning she took herself off to swimming and a pottery class. Came back very pleased with herself as she'd remembered to change out of her dress and sandals before starting to throw clay around ☺

- Uh-huh, and where are your dress and sandals now? (not to mention your rucksack, water bottle, towel, sunhat, etc)

- I dunno, in the house or somewhere 🤦‍♀

Cue a lengthy excursion to track down daughter's clothes and worldly possessions.

This evening we spread out the enormous UN flag I use as a picnic rug (NB: all flags are welcome here all week) and shared a meal with our neighbours. Daughter chose to hang out with some new friends she made today and texted me a short while ago to say ask if she can sleep over with them tonight . . so we should have less elbow jabbing than last night 😌

Im uncomfortable with putting flags on the ground, but otherwise sounds like a fine time!

@GerOttman You might be more uncomfortable sitting on damp grass . .

@SunshineGirl I can handle damp grass, not a big deal. I'd just go with an old comforter or colorful blanket over the flag of someone's country or organization.

@GerOttman I don't think many other countries have quite the same degree of reverence for flags as the US does, not even for their own.
