That’s cause he only cares about the insurance money he probably wasn't even helping him 😒

@YoMomma like I said above I might look into a different counselor and paying out a pocket if I have to

There is an insurance cap. You’re just shooting the messenger because you love your son. The insurance will bend, but you’ll need a diagnosis. They’ll allow more visits that way.
There’s also online therapy. Have you checked that avenue?

@Adogslife trust me I'm going to call my insurance company tomorrow. He has ADHD but as of right now we don't have I'm on any medications. I don't think he needs it. But I guess because he's not his appointments are coded or billed differently. I'll pay out of pocket if I have too.
I don't think he'd do well with a online appointment. He doesn't sit still long. So in person is better for him. I'm going to talk to my therapist tomorrow as well. See if he has any suggestions on what we can do.

In any case i'd dump that counselor, obviously he only cares about the money . He could try to help you ,like ok then can't the counselor make a diagnosis? I mean if he can decide he doesn't need more time he should be able to convince the insurance that he does .
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
@kodiac that is the other thing I'm confused about and it doesn't take much. I'm not a smart person. But he said he reported that my boy was doing fine but he had also reached the limit of appointments for this year. It's only July. I'm going to dig deeper into this tomorrow and figure something out. I'll find a new counselor for him and pay out of pocket if I have to.

I don't think he needs counseling for just missing his mother. He will get over it before long
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
@smileylovesgaming he's 7 and his mother walked out of his life without even saying goodbye to him. He's confused and doesn't understand why she did this. He is struggling with this and I can't fix it so no I don't think he'll just get over it! But thank you for caring enough to comment
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@Cigarguy101 sending him to counseling every week can be just as damaging. He isn't moving on with his life. I would spend more time with him. I think he would rather play basket ball or baseball with his dad then talking about the same pain over and over for weeks at a time
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
@smileylovesgaming how much time do you think he's there?
And I spend as much time as possible with him. I am an open book on here go look at my posts.
And honestly I don't need to prove anything to you.
Or defend why I think it's important for him to go.

If your son has built up a rapport with this counsellor then finding a new one is not going to help in the short-term.
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
@ArtieKat but if he refuses to see him even if I pay out of pocket I don't have much of a choice.
Musicman · 61-69, M
How much is it if you pay it out of pocket? Maybe you could do once a month. 🤷♂
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
@Musicman yeah I'm definitely going to look into that may not stick with the same counselor though I kind of feel like he might have tried to fight for my boy a little bit more he does have a diagnosis he is ADHD he's just not treated with medication right now. And the cost doesn't really matter if my boy needs it I'm going to get it done and find a way
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Cigarguy101 From the way he handled everything it sounds like he doesn't really care about you or your son. He never even offered you options.
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
@Musicman I think you're right. I'll get something figured out though.
