Every evening, I pick up my phone, thumb hovering over the call button.

I want to hear my mom’s voice, tell her about my day, ask about hers. But a quick glance at the clock reminds me, it’s 3 AM where she is. She’s probably wrapped in blankets, dreaming, unaware her child on the other side of the world is missing her.

By the time the sun rises on her side, mine is setting, or I’m drowning in my work schedule. We keep missing each other, like stars chasing the sun.

Still, every so often, we catch that perfect sliver of overlap. A five-minute call. A laugh. An "I love you."
Enough to carry us to the next one.

My mom, myself and my sister who's in Sydney call each other atleast once or twice a week. Ifnwe can't call we send videos and messages to each other. Sometimes my daughters send random messages to them. All done on viber. You can leave a video message to warm her heart when she wakes up.❤

@mindstruggle though it's different being with them in person. More chaos but lots of fun.😂

Awwe hhaha korek. It's more wholesome in video calls.
As a Mom, I would be hurt if my child didn't call me at 3am if they needed me. Always call Mama.
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
@mindstruggle We don’t care. 😭
@mindstruggle she wouldn't mind. I know I wouldn't. Maybe not every day, but if he needs me he better call me and thats final lol
@SwampFlower exactly. We always want that line open. Any time any day no matter what.

You know what? You need to figure out how to call her. Schedule it with her even if it is 3AM.

There is not much I miss more than my mom coming in the door with her "hi bud!" and I will never hear it again except in my mind.

What a great anecdote about you and your mom - very heartwarming. I'm sorry that you're separated by so much distance.

Felt.

My mom's 3000 miles away. Three hour time difference.

Doable....but perhaps what I long for is her presence right now.

It’s never hard being away from the ones you love. It’s weird for me because I despise my relatives and my only good friends are on here.
