Mom’s birthday is Monday

My four sisters and I pitched in to get her a new iPhone.

You’re a good son.

I gave my dad a new cell phone once.
He returned it.
Years later he asked for one. So I got him one.
He returned that one too.

My sister and I got my mom a new phone last year for her birthday. It's something that she never would've bought on her own, even though hers was in need of an upgrade. It's the kind of thing she would really appreciate from us ☺

That's so good. Happy Birthday to her.

Does your mother have in interest in that sort of gadgets?
Mine doesn't.

@Cyclist Thats very very cool. Many people her generation refuse to connect to new technologies. (Which is why my mom still has a landline phone... 😏)

@helenS and here I am, a hyper tech space scientist, yearning for a simpler, unconnected life. If only I knew when to put the phone down and appreciate life. I miss my life as an 80s kid, when to talk to a friend you had to call their house and be nice to their parents first. When you’d look at the paper to see what movies were showing. We were able to focus more on the things that mattered, and, we had more time to think. But then on the other hand when I first moved countries I could not keep in touch with my friends because an international call connected at $10 and would run to around $20.

@Cyclist I don't look back fondly on the days when I wasn't connected to the internet. The internet makes it possible for me to work from home, which is incredibly great, because I live in the middle of nowhere. I'm connected to my server accounts and i can do all my work without having to leave my house.
Buy her a laptop

@littlepuppywantanewlife not nearly as useful in her case.
@Cyclist I told because she could play video games in that too. But it's good to still give an iphone.

That’s cute prepare for the headache of showing her how to use it

@Cyclist I tried to gave my Nan my old iPhone 7 as hers was like a 4 or something, she literally had a meltdown because it was bigger than her previous one. Even though it was exactly the same to use she didn’t want it and immediately requested her old phone back

@GLITTER happened with my wife’s grandfather once when our uncle got him a new and bigger TV set. The numbers on the screen were different and he threw a fit. My mom will be cool with it though. She’s tech savvy and was looking for one.
