Sunday lunch

It was just me and 12 yo for most of the weekend. She wanted to make a special lunch on her own. I gave her 拢20 in town on Saturday and left her to do her own thing. She bought an enormous turkey leg for next to nothing. We had a delicious turkey curry, rice, cucumber raita and naan bread. Then baked apples stuffed with mincemeat and custard to follow. There was enough for Laura when she got home and leftovers for today 馃構

Total cost of ingredients (excluding use of sundries in kitchen) = less than 拢6 馃憤 The rest of the 拢20 note seems to have been spent on dairy milk chocolate 馃槀

What a kid, she knows how to value shop. That's not a common skill.

@ineedadrink She's wise beyond her years . . picked it up from the adult carers in her childrens home 馃檪

@SunshineGirl So her experience there hasn't been a horror show, besides not having someone like youse around?

@ineedadrink It's a lovely home, but every child needs some family time of their own if possible. She helps with the cooking there and learned most of her skills. But she can't do spicy stuff because of the younger kids, hence curry yesterday 馃檪

@SunshineGirl I like spicy food too but I only eat spicy food at home never outside! 馃檮馃檮馃檮 My nose always runs like a tap when I eat anything spicy so I made a rule for myself to only eat spicy food at home! 馃馃馃 I prefer chocolate though! 馃崼馃崼馃崼
