Don't recall that particular scenario. What I do recall is how I used to have to get blood drawn every Saturday for testing, and I used to tense up, fearing the needle, which made it an ordeal for both the phlebotomist and me until my parents started buying me a comic book to distract and relax me. Then one Saturday my father had to stop by his workplace before going to the doctor's office. My mother allowed me to pretend I was driving the car, and I must have changed the settings or something, because when my father got back in the car he realized I had been playing with the controls which was a BIG no-no with him. So my punishment was he wouldn't give me a dime for a comic book -- yes, they were only a dime then -- and I had to get the blood drawn cold turkey. I handled it so well that the doctor -- who had heard the story of my punishment -- gave me a dime to buy a comic book as a reward.

@SW-User Yeah, mom used to yell that at us when we dilly dallied with our friends after school instead of getting in the car.

Mom was always threatening to put us out on the freeway. She denies it now, but the rest of us remember. 😅

@bijouxbroussard Reminds me of the day an old college buddy called me out of the blue and asked if I could come and pick him up. I said I thought he was living at the other end of the state, and he said he was in the process of moving back. Had gotten a ride with some friends, gotten into an argument with them, and they literally put him out on the freeway and drove off. We went and picked him, and his suitcase, up outside the phone booth at the nearest gas station or fast food place adjacent to the freeway. 😄
