Mothering Sunday

We started the day with the girls bringing us breakfast in bed. Always a slightly tense affair until the tea is safely poured. The 9 yo proudly presented us with a card she had made at school. Her elder sister provided a helpful artistic interpretation 🙂

Then we went to the beach to enjoy the early Spring sunshine. Youngest daughter fell into a rockpool fully clothed 🤦‍♀

Back home, both girls busied themselves making a chocolate cake. The 15 yo used practically every implement in the kitchen, as is her custom. More chocolate seemed to end up her little sister than in the baking tin. Cue an early bath and a second complete change of clothes 🤦‍♀ We had afternoon tea, lots of board games, and now the girls are settling down for an early night before school tomorrow.

I'm not even going to look at the kitchen tonight. We had a fun day and tomorrow the scene of devastation will surely take on a more sentimental meaning 😊

I hope all mums who celebrated had a lovely day 💖

Kids and flour are a dangerous combination, kids and baking in general. I remember wanting to make soda bread when I like 8. Two important lessons, teaspoons are smaller than tablespoons and baking powder does not equal baking soda :)

We all have to learn somehow

@JoeMW Trial and error! Even our teenager, who is an expert on the subject, cannot fathom how so many ingredients can become attached to one small girl 🤣

@SunshineGirl In her defense cocoa does tend to explode out of the mixer when you first turn it on

A typical day... Sounds delightful... You need to set a cake cooking challenge... People use whatever is available so set them up with the bare minimum necessary to make a cake and present it as a challenge ;)
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Convivial That's a great challenge for cooking a main meal. The trouble is with cakes, if you miss out eggs, flour, or sugar you generally get left with an inedible mess in the bowl 😅

@SunshineGirl provide what's necessary but only what's necessary... Learn to wash and clean and reuse as they go ;)

Also your precious youngest will maybe get even more chocolate on her soon since a certain bunny comes soon! 🐇🥚🐇🥚🐇🥚 Hope the Easter Bunny visits both your girls and you and your wife too! 🤗🤗🤗 I LOVE chocolate and British chocolate is much nicer than our American chocolate! 😁😁😁
