The world of work

This week my daughter will do five days work experience arranged for year 10 students through the school. She is going to work in quite a big hotel within walking distance of our home. Her programme is designed to give her a taste of every aspect of hotel work (new managers do exactly the same) and is as follows:

Mon: General duties in kitchen
Tues: Housekeeping (servicing rooms, etc)
Weds: Working on reception and dealing with guests' enquiries
Thurs: Serving in the restaurant
Fri: Working with a chef in the kitchen

Her uniform is ironed, her hair is washed. She has been unusually quiet today, but a determined glint in her eye suggests to me that she will be putting in 110% effort over the next five days 😊

I hope they let her use the hotel pool and hot tub!

Yet at one hotel I stayed at, if I recall, I saw a sign saying these things were for guests only, and not staff.

Maybe she can sneak breakfast from the complementary breakfast buffet. Or smuggle out bagels and bananas for the walk home.

@JoyfulSilence Food is provided, but I think she will be too tired to do anything else!

@JoyfulSilence Sadly I doubt work staff can use the fun activities in the hotel unless under special exceptions! 😘😘😘 But hopefully she can unwind at home I hope! 😇😇😇 I always find having fun after work recharges me for the next working day so I hope she has a little energy to recharge with something she enjoys back at home! 😘😘😘
