Panic over

So we got to meet our daughter's friend-who-is-a-boy-but-definitely-not-her-boyfriend.

The good news is that his intentions are wholly honourable. He plays on the school rugby team and has got her onto a training programme organised by oir local professional side, which she is thrilled about.

The less good news is that the infatuation seems all one way. We were worried about over-active teenage hormones, but he was like a rabbit in headlamps for most of the time he was with us. The look on his face, while daughter was rearranging his schedule next weekend so he could watch her at gymnastics, was priceless 🤣

So I think we can put aside the pepperspray for now. I am trying to manage my daughter's expectations just in case. She gets swept away by her enthusiasms and does not always listen as closely as she might do or read tell-tale signals. It's a necessary learning curve, but painful nonetheless.

@MommyLucy No, I certainly don't support pepperspraying children! But we have given her a protection kit for when she is on her own and pepperspray is an effective deterrent to physical attack that causes no lasting injury 🙂

@SunshineGirl [c=008099] How anyone can attack a child is beyond me! 🤬🤬🤬 I HATE child abuse and we should keep children safe always and forever into the heavens and back again! 💖💖💖[/c] [c=BF0000] YOU ARE SUPER AWESOME! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜💖❤🧡💛💚💙💜💖 [/c]

@MommyLucy I am probaby too suspicious and cautious, but better to be safe than sorry. She is beginning to set out on her own and we cannot be with her 24 hours a day 💖

I’m so nervous for those years… my daughter is 5 so I have a ways to go, but it makes me anxious

@WaryWitchWandering It wasn't so bad really. My wife gave her 'the talk', but she was completely open and candid with us. I felt a little guilty for being over-cautious, but teenage boys are quite an unknown quantity to me.

@SunshineGirl If you bring them up correctly and show them the dangers and how to handle it helps a lot
Also when you can have confidence in them

All's well that ends well! However, it is only natural that you should feel a little apprehension until you met the boy.
