How does it feel like to have a strong father?

My father struggled with depression my whole childhood and teen years and our roles were often reversed. I've just always wished to have a strong shoulder to lean on. I would wish one of the alpine climbers at my mountaneering club would be my father. Then I would have their fearless genes, wouldn't doubt if I'm capable to ever climb multi pitch routes and wouldn't have to preventively look after any first signs of depression due to my predesposition.

sounds like you do have a strong father though. Dealing with depression is no small thing

@Torsten Hmm, never thought about it that way...🤔

@LillyJulia yeah its one way to look at it for sure.
My mother has not left her house really since I was around 19 due to mental health issues and past trauma, and I wish things were different and done things I have not been able to do with her and I remember wishing for a time that she was like other mothers i see out and about but Now i see it a whole other way. She deals with as much as she can for her kids and will always be there to help one way or another. She cant do what a lot of other mothers do but she makes up for it so much more in other ways.
It really just is how you look at it. Its easy to look at others parents and see something that might not even be real.
Everything looks easier being on the outside i guess
