Their house their rules

AliKat80 · 41-45, F
Sleep routines are important. Theres a load of science to show how important it is to have regular times to sleep and wake. Sounds like your aunt is trying to help you get in to habits that will see you well all through life
chrisCA · M
@AliKat80 Her aunt is a control freak.
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
@Stubborn17 It is, especially as you need to be up early and get a good nights sleep! She is right

Be thankful your aunt loves you enough to care about your health and your sleep hygiene.
Stubborn17 · 18-21, F
Were do they have school's like that
ArtieKat · M
@Stubborn17 In England - I'm sure @OliRos won't mind me telling you that.
OliRos · 18-21, F
@Stubborn17 @ArtieKat Yes, mine was, still is, in England, though I am sure that they exist around the world.
MrsRachelEvans · 26-30, F
I had a bedtime at home until I married. Even now my husband will tell me to go to bed when I get tired or cranky.

My bed time is 9 pm, every day. But I may still read a little or be on the phone until 9:30
Strict4u · 56-60, M
@kleinemaus do you still have a early bedtime?
kleinemaus · 36-40, F
@Strict4u only when I not behave
Strict4u · 56-60, M
@kleinemaus I hope you have been behaving yourself lately
Louis54 · 61-69, M
This is quite difficult. At the one hand there's little use in going to bed before you have a chance of sleeping, and on the other hand many young people nowadays get too little sleep because they remain hooked up to social media much later than they ought to: It's hard to get any sleep when your body is waiting for another pling from your phone. The problem in this case isn't really that your aunt tries to help you with your sleep rhythm, but that she does it in such a military fashion. From your other posts, I assume that "or else" may involve parts of your anatomy, and a scorching bottom is of little help when you are trying to get some sleep.
Daisy128 · F
I live in a rural area so curfew is really weird. I have one but ita kind of late. But we have to be quiet after 10.
2brandon2 · 18-21, M
A bed time rituals are important in order to get good sleep depending on your age you should have a minimum of eight hours of sleep. OK so if you go to bed late and you have to go to school the next morning, then your sleep rhythms are gonna be off and you’ll be drowsy all day at school, it’s no different when you’re an adult and you have a job instead of going to school for me sleep is a priority because I work night shift so I’m awake all night and sleep all day and I have to flip my schedule back-and-forth from days tonight, so I’m very aware of my circadian rhythm There are ways of tricking your circadian rhythm, such as not being in the sunlight for any more than 15 minutes before you’re ready to go to bed that is of your sleep during the day.
Stubborn17 · 18-21, F
@2brandon2 you are getting way to technical on me mr
2brandon2 · 18-21, M
@Stubborn17 sorry 😕
Nikki921 · F
@2brandon2 I have a lot of respect for what you said.
updown2020 · 61-69, M
Well it’s better to follow her rules than getting a sore bum.
novaguy2u · 70-79, M
Tell your aunt that you can't regulate bedtime by the clock. A lot depends on your Circadian rhythms. These change as we go from childhood to puberty and ultimately to adulthood. You still need to average seven hours of sleep a night, but you can't necessarily do that within a rigid timeframe.
Goodluckwiththat · 56-60, M
Wait til you get older, you'll love going to bed early! Lol
2brandon2 · 18-21, M
@Goodluckwiththat that’s me when I wake up I know that 24 hours from now I will be hitting the sack and I can’t wait
deadteddy · 26-30, F
Why are you perving on your imaginary aunt 💀
Stubborn17 · 18-21, F
@deadteddy I wish. And totally understand why you think it's the way you do 😞
At my age my eyes are closed at a very specific time, if I go to sleep to early I'm up half the night, to late and I don't want to wake up. It's programming your body into a beneficial habit.

Your mind and body will not agree with this for probably another 20 years
Caned4doz · 61-69, M
At your age you are old enough, and should be allowed, to determine this for yourself. A structured routine for bedtime is appropriate for young children but not young adults. It seems your aunt is possibly stuck in the mindset of what she was required to do.
MissyChrissy · 18-21, F
I have to be in bed at 10 p.m. or get my butt tanned. A sore butt makes sleeping worse, believe me.
Stubborn17 · 18-21, F
@MissyChrissy we have the same rules. Luckily I can usually hear when she's walking up the stairs to check on us ☺️
MissyChrissy · 18-21, F
@Stubborn17 Lucky girl. I cannot hear my dad, he's like a cat, and I am not allowed to lock up my door. 😔
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Listen to your aunt! Sleep and nutrition are massively important. Everything else fits into place if you get those basics right 😌
Bandit2398 · 51-55, M
so when you become a mom are you not going to give your kids a bedtime?
MissyChrissy · 18-21, F
@Bandit2398 I guess its always different, when you have to turn into another role.
SouthernMissy · 31-35, F
No wonder your username here is Stubborn. 😝
Stubborn17 · 18-21, F
@SouthernMissy 🤣🤗
Bedtime and sleep allows your body to fully relax and recover.
Teslin · M
She is only looking out for your best interest. Be kind to her.
wudifu · 46-50, M
Even if you not even tired
MissyChrissy · 18-21, F
@wudifu Bedtime is a strict rule, Sir, it has to be obeyed, independent of how the daughter feels.
rfatoday · 61-69, M
Try to follow her guidelines knowing it might be hard at first to get to sleep. Eventually you’ll adjust, as long as you keep the times consistent. You probably already know this but avoid any food or beverages with caffeine for several hours before bedtime. I know, it’s annoying but your aunt cares and is trying to help.
72andy · 51-55, M
Routine is best.
But as a teen to you will be more prone to late nights.
But you have to be up for chores on the farm and for school. So does not fit in with what needs done, which is why we olds get so frustrated. Just like we were at your age. The problem is you still need that time in bed. Just not when everyone else is up an active.
TaylorGirl · F
So what is your bedtime then?
Stubborn17 · 18-21, F
@TaylorGirl curfew is 9 and bedtime 10 on weekdays that is
Um up 2 hours early because I went to bed 2 hours early, if I go to bed late I'm still up on time and miserable to deal with
It can be hard if you don't have enough structure in your life. Maybe you're a night owl.
Stubborn17 · 18-21, F
@Spoiledbrat yes I don't appreciate going to bed that early, but realize that I need to have my chores done before going to school
ArtieKat · M
I agree that 10pm is way too early at your age. Can you try negotiating an extra hour?
By the way
Its past your bed time ⏲️
Stubborn17 · 18-21, F
@ExperienceDLT [image]Nooo... Really......😆
