Day to day control (having your clothing determined for you) discipline or punishment (e.g., wearing a girdle that is a size too small or wearing clothes that are unattractive). There can also be an element of humiliation involved e.g., wearing directoire knickers that are only just covered by a dress or skirt and having the constant apprehension that they might be seen.
