What crazy things have your kids done?

When my youngest son was 10, he had come home from school one day and went straight upstairs. After a few minutes, he came down and said dad, I have something to tell you. I said, ok, lay it on me! He says, I traded one of my Bakugons for a laptop computer! I said, you did what??? lol. Some kid in school actually brought his parents laptop computer to school to trade for my son’s Bakugon! I couldn’t believe it!
We took the computer back up to the school and explained what had happened. The Assistant Principal laughed and said well, your son sure came out better on that trade! 🤣

Recently we discovered my 14 yr old and her friend were rollerblading in her tiny room and someone managed to put a foot through the wall. Never told us about it in fear they'd be in deep trouble.

Instead, they found some YT video where someone recommended this "patch". They filled the hole with ramen, and I don't know if there was a paper layer on top, found the leftover paint can in the basement and painted over their "repair". Her paint job was damn near perfect.

Apparently two months went by before I happened to be in her room during the day while she was gone and noticed this area behind her door looked like the wall had water damage because it was all rippled. Her dad knew noting of it either.

Lessons were learned by all involved.

I wasn't even mad about the hole, though I wish she'd have told us so we could show her how to properly patch a wall. Thank goodness we didn't get rodents!

@Starcrossed naw, just a mild concussion! lol.

Not really! I was fine! 😊
TravisTx · M
@Starcrossed I might add, that chair was toast though! It broke apart! Lol

@Starcrossed Gotta give them an "A" for effort.

But yeah, in my experience, normally parents do not get upset if the kids at least try to fix their own mistakes.

An early lesson in the ups and downs of trading!

She hasn't actually done it yet, but since she was 12 I've been overhearing my daughter planning to go to Butlin's holiday camp in Minehead with either her cousin or one of her friends. It would take them ages to get there by bus and I'm sure they wouldn't accept a booking from a minor anyhow, but I've been on alert for two years now 😊 I think it's only because her friends don't share her enthusiasm for this 1970s holiday camp that the plan hasn't come to fruition yet 😅
TravisTx · M
@SunshineGirl You’re probably right, she either can’t find someone that wants to go with her or wouldn’t be allowed to go. Would you arrange her transportation and let her go if she did? How long is this camp?
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@TravisTx If she asked me we'd find a way of making it happen 🙂

It's a complex of pretty basic holiday accommodation at a faded seaside resort. They do live entertainment and other activities, but not the most glamorous place, lol. I should probably be relieved that she isn't trying to do the usual teenage thing of nightclubbing in Ibiza 🤣
TravisTx · M
@SunshineGirl a summer camp would definitely be much better than night clubbing at her age. Agreed! 😂

My oldest wanted a cat so badly when she was 10 but I said no because I knew she wouldn’t look after it. Then She started spending an awful lot of time in her room. I got suspicious and found she’d been hiding a little black cat in her walk-in closet for almost a week.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@TravisTx yes 😀
TravisTx · M
@Jenny1234 I knew it! 😂

@TravisTx I could never turn away a cat. Once it’s in my home, it stays forever. Any animal for that matter

I don't have any kids unless you count my adopted kid from sw who got mad and blocked me.. or my half dozen step kids whom i have never met despite being married to their father for over 20 years..

I had a cat who left a dead mouse on our bed once.. does that count?

My youngest son was about 3 or 4 years old! Tapping on my shoulder, saying "Mom" "Mom" "Mom?" I was like "Yes sweety?" He was like "When I grow up, can I become the Pope?" My eyes widened I was sooo surprised! With Joy I said "Of course you can sweety!!!" Then he rubbed his tiny little hands together and said in a dark voice "Good then I can control all of the people!" My jaw dropped to the floor! Who taught this innocent baby thisssssss?????????🤯
TravisTx · M
@saintsong wow!!! 🤭
Walked out of his pre-school at the age of 2. Took his best friend along for the ride. They were looking for the park. They found them next door at the courthouse after walking through a busy parking lot.
TravisTx · M
@dragonfly46 oh wow! Thank goodness they were found still close to their preschool.
HoeBag · 46-50, F
is a bakugon some kind of anime action figure? I looked that up on google and that is what showed.
TravisTx · M
@Jenny1234 funny! My son told me he had traded a Bakugon for a laptop computer…I said you did what? What the heck is a Bakugon? Lol
HoeBag · 46-50, F
@Jenny1234 I guess for decades now, anime stuff has been a pretty big thing.

@TravisTx Your son definitely came out ahead. I do not see how some action figure could be worth as much as a laptop. So, your son did well.

Maybe he can cash in the rest of his collection someday to buy his first house! :D
TravisTx · M
@HoeBag never know about the guy! 🤣
exexec · 70-79, C
They used to ride bikes in an area that became known as The Killing Fields because of the bodies found there.
exexec · 70-79, C
@TravisTx It was five miles from our house, so we never imagined they were riding over there.
TravisTx · M
@exexec yeah, I get that! I’m sure our parents would be surprised just how far we roamed from home, too. Although, it was a different time back then.
exexec · 70-79, C
@TravisTx That's true. They let me roam the swamps alone. I never told them how close I came to being snake-bit a few times.
