Why do kids only hug leg?

Who do toddlers hug your leg? My toddler loves to hug my calf and rest her head on my knee. is there a certain age where they grow out of that stage? I mean, we dont hug people like that, it would be odd to hug someone’s leg. I’m curious what you do when they do this in public or home?

@WiTtt He means, a toddler doesn't normally have the size to hug you like an adult. He/she can't reach that high. Exactly how old is this alleged toddler of yours?
