an easy misunderstanding.
Reminds me of a story from a friend of my late father who was teaching his grandson about knives, forks and spoons. He explained to his grandson that this item was a fork and it had four prongs.
Shortly afterwards his grandson found a fork with three prongs and triumphantly shouted "look grandpa a threek, it has three prongs ......"

Adults in my family used to talk about "seeing the new year in". I heard "in" as "inn" and imagined this was the mysterious drinking establishment that my father spent rather too much time in 😳
