Sunday at church a lady asked if I would be interested in sitting her two children, 9 and 12. I don't have much experience with this before, do you think it's a good idea. The pay is ok and I could use the money, but the mother is also quite demanding and in my opinion have issues or ocd on how tidy and clean everything should be.

I might have forgotten to say I accepted the offer. We agreed on the terms together with my aunt this first time.
It's quite a bit of responsibility, but I'm getting used to it now. And sitting is more work than I first expected, it's not just sitting around watching your phone all night. It's chores and helping out with several things that need to get done in addition to keeping the kids in line and making sure they get their chores and homework done as well.
That's part of the terms at this job anyway

@Stubborn17 sounds great:)I hope it all works out for you!!!!

@Stubborn17 Sounds like a good job which not only pays money, but which you can also learn from.

@Louis54 I've already learned a few things the hard way, being late as a sitter is not acceptable. Follow up on homework is not optional, and kids tend to tell on their sitter if she's slacking on the sofa while bossing them around 🙄

@Stubborn17 The hard way is as hard as a hairbrush?
Stubborn17 · 22-25, F
@Louis54 🍑 pretty accurate assumption there ☹️
Louis54 · 70-79, M
@Stubborn17 And it's the lady who does it? Do the kids know?

@Stubborn17 Must still be embarrassing for a college girl. Has it happened often?
1olderguy20 · 61-69, M
@Stubborn17 i bet its nerve racking driving home knowing your getting the hairbrush
Stubborn17 · 22-25, F
@1olderguy20 I usually opt for the other option, my aunt is not a good alternative.
1olderguy20 · 61-69, M
@Stubborn17 sorry i misread it so the lady does deal w it on the spot. So you drive home w a sre bottom

@Stubborn17 When did you last get it?
@Stubborn17 The work experience is really valuable and so is the "time management" training, even if you learned it the hard way.

One question: Are you stressed trying to keep up in your college classes? We all hope it is going well but you have a lot on your plate. Best wishes and it seems like your survey and the confidence that everyone expressed in you were justified! Brava! Way to go.

@Stubborn17 I surely would enjoy chatting with you about it if you're open to do so

I have no desire to be a pest, so if you say you're not interested I'll disappear like a ghost, but it would be really cool if you did decide to chat

@Stubborn17 If she added mor responsibilities after you agreed to take the job, ask for more money.
Stubborn17 · 22-25, F
@ProfessorPlum77 yes, we agreed on the terms already, and the chores to be done
Louis54 · 70-79, M
@Stubborn17 Is it going more smoothly now that you have experience?
Stubborn17 · 22-25, F
@Louis54 yes I imagine it will
Louis54 · 70-79, M
@Stubborn17 It's always that way with new jobs. Experience helps a lot.
@Stubborn17 Your being subject to tattling must really keep you on your toes. Are the kids honest?

I bet they are at least tempted to exaggerate any slip-up on your part. How well can they overhear when you get it? Does the Mom trust your version of events?
Stubborn17 · 22-25, F
@Alfred22 they told on me when I didn't finish my shores and the question of why came up. I tried saying it was to much. But then they could inform their mom I had been spending quite some time on the sofa on my phone. They were quite right, and not a smart move on my part
@Stubborn17 OUCH! What does your employer use for discipline? Do her kids feel the same thing? If so, then you have a good ground for warning them!
@Stubborn17 I see why your saying that there was too much work was not a good move on your part. The kids could correct you and observe that you spent quite a bit of time sitting. So, their mom made sure that sitting on anything was much less a temptation for you!
1olderguy20 · 61-69, M
@Stubborn17 i assume your bottom paid the price for not finishing your chores
