Complaints about public breastfeeding

Today in a local community facebook group an anonymous poster made a complaint about a woman breast-feeding in public and how it offended the person.

Here in Australia public breastfeeding is a protected right under laws both federal and state.

In NSW, Australia, specifically it is legal to breastfeed your baby in any public place under both federal and state laws, specifically the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 and the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. You cannot be asked to leave a public space, cover up, or stop breastfeeding your baby because of these laws. If someone confronts you, remain calm, inform them of your legal right, and seek a staff member or manager if you feel unsafe.

It is a human right here in Australia but look what happened to the lady at the Virgin Australia business lounge in Melbourne who was asked to leave by a staff member after pumping breast milk.
There was nothing said about whether she actually left the Lounge.
As usual in cases like these, where the business is in the wrong;
In a statement, Virgin Australia said it had apologised to Dr Turner directly.

"We are sorry for the way this situation was handled," the airline said in a statement.

"It fell short of the high standards of care and customer service our team strives to deliver.

"We have reached out to our guest today to apologise directly."

Hollow words.
