My cousin is kinda hurting right now

He's 14 and had a crush on a girl but she didn't feel the same way, so they decided to just be friends. However, according to him, she asked him if he would break up with her boyfriend for her so she could get back with her ex. He said no but told me that the question really stung him, I can tell it's really bothering him and he's kinda confused. I feel so bad for him, I wanted to cry. 😢
