It depends on the reasoning for wanting kids.
Pretzel · 70-79, M
to have kids because your parents want to be grandparents
StygianKohlrabi · 46-50, M
@Pretzel yeah eff em
TexChik · F
It would be worse to have babies you don’t want and then not love them.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
To not want kids. Its self love
Cigarguys · 41-45, C
I don't think either one is selfish.
Cremosa · F
How is not wanting kids selfish in any way tho…
Boeing · 36-40
I do not wish to have children but it doesn't seem selfish from where I am..
Not at all. Too many people have kids that shouldnt have them.
Younameit · F
I don’t think it’s selfish, because it’s the core principle of continuing the human existence as a species but it’s not selfish to not want kids. It’s definitely selfish having babies when you know that you don’t want to be a parent and do the parenting stuff.
HijabaDabbaDoo · F
I don't think either is selfish in itself. Just gotta make sure the reasoning for both acknowledges the welfare of the kids.
Musicman · 61-69, M
I would have liked to have had a kid, but my wife was very upfront and told me in our first week and a half of dating that she couldn't have kids. 36 years later we are still together.
Thinkingdeeper · 36-40, M
Be mindful that some couples (myself included) don't have the luxury of being able to choose. We can't have children. Due to health conditions the option of adoption is also not an option. Key dates through the year are often painful reminders of something we can't have. That said we have had the joy of being Auntie & Uncle.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@Thinkingdeeper best friends
Sapio · 51-55, M
I don't think it's selfish either way.
GoFish ·
Sometimes.. sometimes it is sometimes it isn't either way for both depends on the context wanting or not wanting them but i think not wanting them is worse. And i think badly of such people in general imo if you hate children i can’t think of you as a good person. I think there’s something innately wrong with whoever deeply to the core to not care for children.
EldritchFox · 41-45, F
It's all a little selfish, but we're allowed a preference.
deadmoon · 31-35, F
In what way is not wanting kids selfish? Who are you negatively impacting with that choice? 🤔
greensnacks · F
Depending on why you want them. What for
Reject · 31-35, M
Both can be selfish depending on your reasons, but they can also not be selfish depending on your reasons. I will say that nobody exists on purpose, so there’s always an amount of bringing a life into this world that may or may not appreciate it.
It's only selfish if you are just having them so you aren't lonely
meggie · F
Neither, it's your choice.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
