I still live with my parents only they live next door in the same house. I’m allowed to do everything we only share a kitchen and a dog.

If you are an adult ,I find that rather strange- if you're a kid then I'm not supposed to be able to see kids.
Can understand the having friends over a bit because it's their house, but I never gave my adult daughter a curfew not that she needed one she never was out late at night.
I would have required a call, I suppose ,so I knew where she was.

I was never allowed to bring friends into the house when they were not at home but I was allowed to eat at other friends homes for dinner

I couldn't have anyone over without prior ok

I was allowed to smoke in the house, I was not allowed to smoke pot in the house.

i wasn't allowed to wear my gene simmons t-shirt when nana visited.... i was allowed to ride my bike wherever i wanted to in my city....that was around when i was 6 in the 1970s

I was allowed to do just about anything except skip out on my assigned chores.

I was allowed to work and go out with my friends but i was never allowed to make any noise past 8:00 pm as my father went to bed early.

Well... apparently... your step-dad is concerned for your well-being... or rather, knows that you tend to misbehave while away from parental supervision

I'm sure it's not so much that he doesn't trust you, more that he cares deeply about you and perhaps can't sleep while waiting for you to come home. Parents can be like that 🙂
