"“If Canada merged with the U.S., there would no Tariffs, taxes would go way down, and they would be TOTALLY SECURE from the threat of the Russian and Chinese Ships that are constantly surrounding them,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social."
https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5071038-kevin-oleary-donald-trump-us-canada-merger/

""Canadian investor and “Shark Tank” star Kevin O’Leary said Thursday that he wants to help broker a deal with President-elect Donald Trump that would create some sort of “economic union” between the US and Canada – declaring that at least half of his countrymen would support such a merger.

“Think about the power of combining the two economies, erasing the border between Canada and the United States and putting all that resource up to the northern borders where China and Russia are knocking on the door,” O’Leary continued.

“So secure [the northern territories], give a common currency, figure out taxes across the board, get everything trading both ways, create a new, almost EU-like passport – I like this idea and at least half of Canadians are interested,” he asserted.""

@4meAndyou Well, that sounds reasonable 👍
AbbeyRhode · F
For them, they get to share the greatest President in the world.
For us, we get to laugh at the libs who swore they were moving to Canada if Trump took office. 😄

Anniedlr · 26-30, F
@Anniedlr don't last for ever, 4 years will go fast,
@jackrabbit10 not fast enough as the Americana will find out
@looking4thesun I don't vote, so I don't have a dog in this fight,
rachelsj · 22-25, F
Nimbus · M
@rachelsj Doesn't seem fair ;(
rachelsj · 22-25, F
@Nimbus sure it is
They've developed their own country with a larger land mass
Their government is more like Britain's than the USA
@rachelsj Don't matter. It aint for you. It's for us. lol
eyeno · M
They'll be proud to be referred to as " the Uppa U.S.".

@MasterLee Doesn't sound fair.
Punches · 46-50, F
Why is trump so hung up about wanting that?

It would do Canada no good.

Everything trump touches gets destroyed, I imagine Canada doesn't want that.
@Punches I want both Mexico and Canada to be part of the US. From the ice to the sea! Make it free! lol
chrisCA · M
@Punches As a Canadian, I don't.
Punches · 46-50, F
@goneNow6565 Canada and Mexico shouldn't have to deal with the train wreck that is "America."
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
Joining countries together for mutual benefit is suddenly a good idea for Trump? But he hates the EU. 🤷 Or is it OK as long as he's the King and his businesses do well out of it?
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@SW-User 🤷
SW-User
@MartinII I'm pleased we left the EU; if Trump dislikes the EU, there's a good reason for it.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@SW-User Me too. Trump is right on this, and on many things.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Not needing a passport for citizens to travel between Canada and the USA. Tourism for both countries likely to increase. Food prices likely will drop dramatically since the tariffs would no longer be a factor.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@cherokeepatti canadas costs would go down overall
Nimbus · M
@cherokeepatti But would the US change to the Canadian dollar?
Lilymoon · F
I can go to Hawaii without a passport 😛
Nimbus · M
@Lilymoon Enjoy :)
Absolutely none. We Canadians have no interest in your country and especially the nutcase you have voted in. Lets talk again in a few yrs and go through his accomplishments. I think it will be a short chat
Thrust · 56-60, M
@looking4thesun

REEEEEEEEEEEEEE! 🤡🤡🤡
Punches · 46-50, F
@looking4thesun Of course there is already banter about trump trying for a third term, but how much longer do people think his old carcass will be around?
@Punches oh i get that. With his eating habits and weight, i doubt he will live through his term but he is going to ruin the whole country because of his narcissistic egp
Thrust · 56-60, M
Absolutely not. Do we want 40 million more socialists? 🤮
Thrust · 56-60, M
@chrisCA you are just another cookie cutter leftist. Nothing original - just an outcast chasing the cool kids

Commie but denies it - check
Smarmy anti-theist - check
Deluded self-imporatance - check

What's your dollar now compared to ours now? 50 cents?

LOL
chrisCA · M
@Thrust Settle down, Cletus. 😂
Thrust · 56-60, M
@chrisCA

Wow your clever Dudley
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
For us clamping down on the boarder,but not sure what benefit they'd receive.
Nimbus · M
@Justmeraeagain Maybe there are things we are as yet unaware of.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
Will Americans finally have healthcare and fairly clean elections?
chrisCA · M
@Justmeraeagain So Luigi had it all wrong? 😅
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@chrisCA
Everyone, I know has access to healthcare,some pay through work and some get it through the government.
Thrust · 56-60, M
@chrisCA hard to believe a psychopath would be deluded!
Nothing. Stop it, Nim. Why don't you become part of it?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@PoetryNEmotion Nimbus is stirring it up with a stick to get us sparring I think.
@cherokeepatti He certainly likes to stir the pot, cherokee.
ABCDEF7 · M
For U.S. or for Canada?
@chrisCA exactly. Why would we want to invite in a country full of thugs. Starting at the top. Unfortunately once again the usa has shown the world their true colors.
Punches · 46-50, F
@looking4thesun USA used to be the "Good guy" of the world, now we are pretty much one of the bad guys.
@Punches if not the worst unfortunately
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
We can drill for their oil, mine their minerals and cut their trees for lumber. Why else do you thing Trump wants it?
Nimbus · M
@Nitedoc Good point, ecenomics matter.
Cloud computing ends
Nimbus · M
@pentagrammom Oh no!
@Nimbus long overdue
Canada makes some of the best cars ,
chrisCA · M
@jackrabbit10 True. The Honda Civic is built in Ontario.
@chrisCA one of the best cars I ever owned was a Ford Crown Vic, made in Canada,
chrisCA · M
@jackrabbit10 That's right. That plant no longer exists.
Thodsis · 51-55, M
Jesus will look on them more fondly....
Nimbus · M
@Thodsis Better to wait till Easter then?
Punches · 46-50, F
@Thodsis Which Jesus? The one from 2,000 years ago or the guy who swam across the Rio grande to get to America?
None that I can think ABOOT 🤭
Nimbus · M
@BritishFailedAesthetic Maybe later then ;)
I hope this happens. This and Mexico. Take them both.
Nimbus · M
@goneNow6565 Why is that?
@Nimbus It would be good for the country economically.
They will lose their universal health care and gain the pleasure of paying double what they used to pay to allow insurance company death panels to decide their fates!

ABCDEF7 · M
@ElwoodBlues Wikipedia doesn't shows the comparison with data for China and India. That seems deliberate.

Ducky · 31-35, F
Maybe some more oil production? More industrial capacity? But Canada really doesn’t have much of anything to gain from joining the US.
Nimbus · M
@Ducky Awww, not much of a deal then :(
SW-User
Canadians would have to pay for healthcare.
Nimbus · M
@SW-User Wow, expensive.

@wildbill83 Wow, that looks a barren place!
Musicman · 61-69, M
No more Trudeau and they would be able to own guns again.
@Musicman no problem with no Trudeau . And unfortunately your take on guns here are way off. If you want a gun here ypu can get one. We are just not fanatical about them like Americans are. Is it any wonder you have probably the most "domestic " violence than any other country. It's a disgrace .
Musicman · 61-69, M
@looking4thesun I didn't think you could own a gun in Canada. 🤷‍♂
@Musicman just goes to show how uninformed most Americans are. There is no law here against owning a gun. Just assualt rifles and such are banned foe personal use. After all they are made for killing humans and nothig else. And being a respectful civilization we don't seem to need them
