There are things I really like about my generation that they don’t get credit for—like being student activists for civil rights and anti-war protests. Some of the best popular music came about during my generation, many originals from which future generations would "sample" for their creations.

I'm a definite baby boomer from 1959, yet all my half siblings were of the "Silent generation". Before 1945.
My half brother worked for Rockwell as a electronics engineer. My brother in-law worked for the IRS as network administrator.
You'll need to be older like my parents who where of the "Greatest generation", before 1927, to get out of the technology.
BTW I embrace the computer technology in highschool, in 1976. When you were 8.

I'm kinda in-between two "generations"

Me to, I feel more like Baby Boomer, Then a Generation X, But that I was also born in 1968 and never had none of the modern stuff. Like we didn't get our 1st color TV till the late 1970s, never got a video game machine or a computer, took the bus or walked everywhere. That was my normal childhood

Yeah I do, now get off my lawn.

Yes. In the worst way possibly. 😆 I'm that good-for-nothing millennial.
HumanEarth · F
I love my stick shifts and clutch controlled vehicles
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@HumanEarth I'd like to try automatic transmission. It looks so much easier.
HumanEarth · F
I put the shifter in R for radio and the radio don't come on

i’m gen z but i’ve always felt disconnected from people my age, maybe because my parents were older when they had me and i’ve always been clearly mentally different than peers

More in the past than now. My two lifelong best friends passed in the last year and I'm feeling out of touch.
HumanEarth · F
I'm loosing another lifelong friend myself due to blood cancer.

yes. i like having my own bank account and an option to never marry
HumanEarth · F
Well my aunt was born in the 1928 and she never married, never had kids and still has a bank account
Frostcloud · F
@HumanEarth it's easier now to be unmarried than ever before, especially since in like 1969 no-fault divorce was legalized, and the equal credit opportunity act was signed into law late 1974. it's less stigmatized and more possible to be single, mental health care is far more recognized, we almost have equal pay. previous generations have paved way for men to wear makeup and for women and minorities to be recognized as equal human beings and im grateful to have been born in this time

I get it I get it and understand what your saying
I just hate this digital world I'm force to live in. I never owned a cellphone and never want one. I hate the thought of even having one.
I tried applying for jobs and going to companies and asking for job application. They say you have to apply on-line and to apply on-line you need a cellphone that can get text messages. I never sent a text message over a telephone in my life

No, I'm a boomer and a bit of an outlier.
HumanEarth · F
And I feel like I fit in more with your group.

@HumanEarth No way. That's a whole generation before me. I only play and listen to that music when I go to art deco weekends.
fun4us2b · M
No, I'm way younger and less lazy than those people...
I embraced technology very early....I find it amazing how we can interact...you can ignore negativity if you want to - and find positivity if you look....but you have to be deliberate about it.

The old technology worked great vacuum tubes stuff I loved that stuff. That's the technology that should have stayed. Cellphones ruined me
fun4us2b · M
@HumanEarth When I played drums in bands - I watched the back of the guitar amps and the tubes glowing was the coolest thing...
You can probably change how you react to the phone....

My plan is to never to never own one. I only have a few more years of working to do then I can retire. I'm sure I can make it. I still fill out paper job application. So I'm good

@HumanEarth no 😆 I did hear when I was a kid
DDonde · 31-35, M
I didn't when I was a teenager, but I do somewhat more now.
HumanEarth · F
Once I got a letter from AT&T telling me that they are discontinuing my home telephone service and try to force me to get a cellphone against my will. For one thing I live in the middle of nowhere and cellphone don't work here. So I will not have a way to call 911 oh well not their problem right
DDonde · 31-35, M
@HumanEarth I know cellphone coverage gets spotty out in some rural places. When I go camping I always have to remember that. Hopefully you can find somebody else that'll either do better coverage of your area or provide you with a landline. I'm not a big fan of AT&T myself
HumanEarth · F
Well, my plan is going back to CB radios and using channel 9 as 911, because I'll never get a cellphone while I'm still breathing
empanadas · 31-35, M
I don't fit anywhere tbh. I have always been different
