Merry Christmas! ๐ŸŽ„

Today is Christmas Eve. My sister, my mom, and I are currently celebrating. After a while, my mom asked for a family photo, and I noticed that she and my sister were wearing some kind of matching couple shirts. I jokingly said, "Where's mine?" Then she said she didnโ€™t buy one and started explaining why she didnโ€™t get me one.

Of course, that hurt me. You could say she had her reasons, but this has already happened before โ€“ at least over five times. Whenever we celebrate something or go out, they wear matching outfits, and I always look like an outsider. It sucks because she could have just told me she planned to wear matching outfits. Even if she didnโ€™t want to spend money on me, she could have told me, and I could buy one for myself.

But now that I think about it, that kind of hurts more because it feels like Iโ€™m forcing myself into the family. Haiyst.

I'm sure you've figured out that this isn't really about the outfits. It's about you being jealous of how close your sister and your Mom appear to be, and about how much YOU want to be included. It's about you wanting to be loved equally.

Explain your feelings to your Mom in THAT way, and perhaps, in future, she will include ALL of her children in her special little circle.
